Step 2 CK questions tend to be longer and more clinically framed than Step 1 questions on the same underlying content. Students who prepared well for Step 1 sometimes assume the same study habits will carry over directly, and are surprised when they don't quite fit.
Management questions need different practice
A lot of CK questions ask what to do next rather than what's happening physiologically. That requires practicing decision points specifically, not just diagnosis, which is a skill built through repetition on management-style questions.
Rotations are part of your prep, use them
Clinical rotations expose you to the pattern recognition that CK questions are built around. Reviewing a handful of practice questions on whatever service you're rotating through keeps the two reinforcing each other instead of running in parallel.
Watch for outdated guidelines in old material
Management-focused content changes faster than basic science does. Leaning on a question bank that's actively maintained matters more for CK than it did for Step 1.
